In his un­pub­lished mem­oir, 21 Years at the Win­nipeg Art Gallery, di­rec­tor Fer­di­nand Eck­hardt (195374) men­tions the “nude man” who turned up in the gallery about twice a year, typ­i­cally ap­proach­ing fe­male vis­i­tors or staff. Af­ter a few years of this, Eck­hardt re­port­edly is­sued whis­tles to his fe­male staffers and the nude vis­i­tor never re­turned. He was later caught by po­lice af­ter wan­der­ing un­clothed in other pub­lic build­ings.
