Police say thank you

Winnipeg Free Press - Section G - - ENTERTAINMENT -

THE Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank a citizen who came to the aid of an officer, then left before we could get his name.

The officer was patrolling the 400 block of Main Street just after midnight on New Year’s Eve when he saw an assault in progress. He stepped up to arrest a man but a confrontation erupted.

At that point, an uninvolved citizen offered to help the officer until backup arrived. As a result of that help, the combative and belligerent suspect was safely taken into police custody.

The Good Samaritan left in a vehicle before police could thank him. But we would like him to know we appreciate the help.
