Helpful police officer inspires respect

I recently went for breakfast at Luda’s Deli on Aberdeen Avenue and Salter Street at about 9:30 a.m.

There were two Winnipeg police officers at the restaurant. While the officers were waiting for their breakfast, one got up and started cleaning tables and serving coffee and hot water for tea.

I complimented his “community commitment.” He smiled and said, “Taxpayers’ dollars at your service.”

This was totally unexpected. He smiled every time he served a customer.

I have a new respect for the Winnipeg Police Service, and I hope the officer gets the recognition he deserves.
