In 1998, Roy Rogers, the “King of the Cow­boys” and one of the great­est western stars from the 1930s to the 1950s, died of con­ges­tive heart fail­ure at his home in Ap­ple Val­ley, Calif. He was 86. Among Rogers’ own hits in the 1930s and ’40s were Hi-Yo Sil­ver and Think of Me. His theme song was Happy Trails to You.
