Talk­ing poetry with the ex­perts at News Café

PO­ETS from east and west will meet Mon­day for a Manitoba Writ­ers’ Guild evening of poetry and dis­cus­sion.

Halifax poet and nov­el­ist Sue Goyette, who was the 2011 win­ner of the Banff Cen­tre Bliss Car­men poetry con­test, joins Manitoba writer Sarah Klassen, whose lat­est poetry col­lec­tion, Mon­strance, has been nom­i­nated for the McNally Book of the Year Award, at the Winnipeg Free Press News Café at 7:30 p.m.

Goyette, who teaches cre­ative writ­ing at Dal­housie Univer­sity in Halifax and has been short­listed for the Gov­er­nor Gen­eral’s Literary Award, will be read­ing from her re­cent poetry col­lec­tion, Ocean.

Klassen, whose nov­els have earned her the Mar­garet Lau­rence Award for Fic­tion, will read from Mon­strance and from her lat­est novel, The Wit­ten­bergs, which was re­leased ear­lier in Septem­ber.
