Cana­dian Screen Awards names spe­cial hon­ourees

TORONTO — Film and TV di­rec­tor Ted Kotch­eff and ac­tor Colm Fe­ore are get­ting spe­cial hon­ours from the Cana­dian Screen Awards. The Academy of Cana­dian Cin­ema & Tele­vi­sion, which ad­min­is­ters the an­nual cer­e­mony, says its four academy spe­cial award win­ners also in­clude broad­cast pi­o­neer Marge An­thony and a CTV News app called iGate­way. Kotch­eff will be rec­og­nized “for out­stand­ing and en­dur­ing con­tri­bu­tions to Cana­dian film and tele­vi­sion” for an il­lus­tri­ous ca­reer that in­cludes

while stage and screen star Fe­ore will get the Earle Grey Award for act­ing. An­thony, who died ear­lier this year, is be­ing posthu­mously cel­e­brated for out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tions to Cana­dian film and tele­vi­sion while iGate­way earns an out­stand­ing tech­ni­cal achieve­ment award for its abil­ity to trans­fer HD news footage from the field to an ed­i­tor pre­par­ing the ma­te­rial for air. The Cana­dian Screen Awards cel­e­brate the best of home­grown film, tele­vi­sion and dig­i­tal tal­ent. The tele­vised bash is set for March 9 and airs on CBC-TV.
