As­tro­naut lands new job as CBC news con­trib­u­tor

TORONTO — Canada’s most fa­mous as­tro­naut has a new gig. CBC says Chris Had­field will be a re­cur­ring con­trib­u­tor on its nightly news show The Na­tional and on CBC Ra­dio One, start­ing Mon­day. It says the re­tired space­man will “bring his in­sights on press­ing is­sues us­ing his unique per­spec­tive from an in­spired and ex­cit­ing ca­reer and life.” Had­field went vi­ral on­line last year while tweet­ing from his post on the In­ter­na­tional Space Sta­tion. He was the first Cana­dian to com­mand the ISS, the first Cana­dian to op­er­ate the Canadarm in or­bit, and the first Cana­dian to walk in space. He re­cently re­leased a mem­oir ti­tled An As­tro­naut’s Guide to Life on Earth.
