Win­nipeg chefs pre­pare to leave it all on the plate

NINE of Win­nipeg’s top chefs will bat­tle for the top of the podium at this year’s edi­tion of the Gold Medal Plates on Oct. 2 at the RBC Con­ven­tion Cen­tre. The nine chefs, who will be asked to pre­pare one ap­pe­tizer-sized dish for about 520 guests, are Michael Dac­quisto of Food Evo­lu­tion; Ed­ward Lam of Yu­jiro; Eric Lee of Pizze­ria Gusto; Tim Palmer of the Vel­vet Glove; Norm Pas­torin of the Grove/Cor­ner­stone; Fabrizio Rossi of Ni­col­i­nos; Barry Saun­ders of Inn at the Forks and Michael Schafer of Syd­ney’s at the Forks. Last year’s gold medal­list, Kelly Cat­tani of El­e­ments the Restau­rant by Di­ver­sity, will be one of the judges this year. Juno Award win­ner Barney Ben­tall and fid­dler Anne Lind­say will be pro­vid­ing mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment.
