In 1973, singer Jim Croce and five other peo­ple died when their sin­gle-en­gine plane hit a tree while tak­ing off from Natchi­toches, La. Croce’s great­est fame came after his death. Within months, three of his LPs — Life and Times, I Got a Name and You Don’t Mess Around With Jim were in the Top 20.
