Wednesday’s opening night of the NHL season also proved to be a hit for
Rogers’ new NHL Gamecentre Live video-streaming app. Rogers says 55,000 people watched 1.9 million minutes of hockey streamed
to computers, cellphones or tablets on Wednesday night. Rogers customers have been given free access to the app until Jan. 1. A full
season’s pass can be purchased through Rogers for $179.99. Viewers had access to all four games on Wednesday, including the Montreal-Toronto season opener. Also available were different camera angles,
including a sky cam and a camera mounted on a referee’s helmet.
