Paying it forward

Winnipeg Free Press - Section G - - THE SOCIAL PAGE -

THANK you to the gentleman who, after buying ice cream for himself and the lady he was with at the Half Moon Drive-In in Lockport, turned around and handed me something. I looked down and realized it was two $5 bills. He said, “Here, buy your kid an ice cream.” That is exactly what we did! Both my son and I really appreciate the gesture of kindness. I particularly appreciate the learning opportunity to discuss with my five-yearold son the idea of paying it forward. We talked about what paying it forward means the whole ride home. After our discussion, we decided it will be up to my son to decide how and when to pay it forward with a random act of kindness. I look forward to seeing what he thinks of. Thank you again for the kind gesture, and the ice cream.
