CONTINUED warm and dry weather has anglers in this province champing at the reigns for the opening of fishing season. In southern Manitoba, the season opens next Saturday. In conversation with Fisheries, it seems intense rainfall we had in early April really helped the walleye spawn in south and central Manitoba. The flush of water into the rivers and streams allowed the walleye to move up into their traditional spawning areas and lay their eggs. Now with the stable weather, the new fry should have plenty of zooplankton to feed on.
