Winnipeg Free Press - - YOUR SAY -

It has become increasingly evident that Omnitrax is not going to repair the track to Churchill. At least, not without government (taxpayer) assistance. Maybe it’s time for the government to expropriate the track and Omnitrax holdings and operate everything as a Manitoba provincial railway.

Re: Railroad to nowhere (Letters, Aug. 26)

Tom Hardern notes the failure of the current Liberal government to live up to its responsibility to the people of Churchill. I would suggest that several previous governments have failed in their responsibility to all Canadians because they have allowed all of our railroads to deteriorate to the extent that they are no longer of real service.

Norway has a much higher standard of living and quality of life than does Canada. It also has more kilometres of railroad than of roads. Shipping
