Re: Res­i­den­tial school records to be de­stroyed (Oct. 7)

I know that these records are deeply per­sonal, deeply painful and deeply pri­vate. How­ever, I ask those think­ing about hav­ing them de­stroyed to think about one thing.

To­day, less than 100 years after the end of the Sec­ond World War, there are peo­ple deny­ing the Holo­caust hap­pened or try­ing to deny the num­bers of peo­ple mur­dered. They do this be­cause there are so few re­main­ing sur­vivors alive and so many in­di­vid­ual sto­ries went un­doc­u­mented.
