Wait times misleading

Winnipeg Free Press - - YOUR SAY -

If one were to go by the new WRHA Wait Times website, you would think it’s a miracle. Every facility, regardless of number of patients, is showing a relatively reasonable wait time.

What most patients don’t know or will miss in the fine print is that these are not actual wait times but “a forecast of the wait time you can expect to experience at the present time.” The previous format showed the actual documented wait times.

On Oct. 11 at 8:57 p.m, at Health Sciences Centre with 43 patients in treatment and another 24 still waiting to be seen, the “forecast” wait time was 3.5 hours. At St. Boniface with 32 patients being treated and five waiting the “forecast wait time was three hours.” Patient numbers like this in the past would have resulted in” actual” wait times of eight to 10 hours.

The WRHA would make it appear that the wait times are already improving with the changes in health care. Are they trying to deliberately mislead the public ?
