BAL­MORAL Hall School’s cam­paign for a new cen­tre for arts and de­sign has re­ceived a $2-mil­lion boost, thanks to the Richard­son Foun­da­tion.

The school for girls, which has been ac­tive for 117 years, an­nounced Fri­day the foun­da­tion is match­ing the $1 mil­lion raised from Richard­son fam­ily mem­bers and em­ploy­ees of James Richard­son and Sons, Ltd., who have a con­nec­tion with the school.

“Ed­u­ca­tion is one of the fund­ing pil­lars of the Richard­son Foun­da­tion, and we truly be­lieve that this new fa­cil­ity will have a tremen­dous im­pact on young women in their pur­suit of ex­cel­lence in the STEAM (science, tech­nol­ogy, en­gi­neer­ing, arts and math­e­mat­ics) sec­tors,” Hart­ley Richard­son, pres­i­dent and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of James Richard­son and Sons, Ltd., and a trustee of the foun­da­tion, said in a state­ment.

The $6-mil­lion project is ex­pected to open this spring.
