Man­i­toba has the high­est rate of chil­dren in care in the coun­try

Over the last 10 years, the num­ber of chil­dren in care in­creased by 85%, while the num­ber of days spent in care rose by 73%

It takes up to 130 days to de­velop a full care plan for a child

The prov­ince’s child wel­fare bud­get for 2016/17 was $514 mil­lion, or $46,800 per child in care

The cost of child wel­fare rose by $20 mil­lion in each of the past four years
