Cops bag accused tool thief
A Winnipeg man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into construction sites in the city and selling stolen goods to pawn shops.
Police made an arrest Monday in an investigation that began in August when a locked construction site on Portage Ave. was allegedly robbed of tools valued at more than $5,000. That incident occurred on Aug. 19. Police said two of the stolen items were sold to a pawn shop two days later.
On Oct. 6, another construction site was broken into on St. Anne’s Rd., where a variety of tools were removed from a trailer. On Oct. 7 and 10, police allege the same man sold those tools to another pawn shop.
On Monday, police arrested Wesley Dean Munro, 37.
He has been charged with break, enter and theft, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
