Cops bag ac­cused tool thief

A Win­nipeg man has been ar­rested af­ter al­legedly break­ing into con­struc­tion sites in the city and sell­ing stolen goods to pawn shops.

Po­lice made an ar­rest Mon­day in an in­ves­ti­ga­tion that be­gan in Au­gust when a locked con­struc­tion site on Portage Ave. was al­legedly robbed of tools val­ued at more than $5,000. That in­ci­dent oc­curred on Aug. 19. Po­lice said two of the stolen items were sold to a pawn shop two days later.

On Oct. 6, an­other con­struc­tion site was bro­ken into on St. Anne’s Rd., where a va­ri­ety of tools were re­moved from a trailer. On Oct. 7 and 10, po­lice al­lege the same man sold those tools to an­other pawn shop.

On Mon­day, po­lice ar­rested Wes­ley Dean Munro, 37.

He has been charged with break, en­ter and theft, and pos­ses­sion of prop­erty ob­tained by crime un­der $5,000.
