Police seek public’s help after transit assault
Winnipeg police are asking for the public’s help to find a man accused of punching a Winnipeg Transit driver in the face.
Police say they were told about an assault on a city transit bus on Jan. 21.
The incident happened around 4:35 p.m. at a bus stop at Portage Ave. and Fort St.
Police say the man entered the bus and told the driver he didn’t have money to pay the fare.
A short time later, the suspect punched the man in the face, police say, and fled on foot.
On Jan. 21, members of the Winnipeg Police Service were advised of an assault that had occurred on a Winnipeg Transit bus.
The suspect is described as a black male in appearance and approximately 20 years old with an average build.
He was wearing a brown hooded jacket with blue jeans.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
