FOOD FOR THOUGHT
I’m a new subscriber and have always admired your mature topics, so am enjoying reading them. However, my senses were disturbed by the picture of raw meat and smoking barbecue [“Where There’s Smoke,” July/ August].
After recently watching a documentary on the slaughter practice of animals, my guess is the meat industry would deny it – plus the health issues.
Well, at 81 years, I have tried to practice wellness, making many changes with diet along the way – the latest being a plant-based diet.
I am always amazed how people ignore the facts of industrial and corporation practices. And I try not to judge all the obese and diabetic people around me.
I hope to have a few more years but feel outnumbered with my thinking. —Jean Pearce, via email
