IT’S SNOW TIME
Winter is almost here so next issue will be serving up stories from the snows of the Altai Mountains in Mongolia and Tajikistan, to get two very contrasting views on what skiing means to people there. We’ll also be in the depths of Eastern Tibet, trekking up into the sacred mountains of Golog (shown below), still largely unexplored and a paradise for botanists, amateur or otherwise. Rounding out the issue’s feature articles, if you’re preparing for a trip to the snows at the end of the year or early next year, you might be needing some fly new gear, so
don’t miss this winter’s Great Gear Guide which will profile our pick of the latest skis, boards, helmets, goggles and more. Look out too for a story on Asia’s pangolins, unassuming and gentle souls that are under grave threat from poaching for use in traditional medicine, while the final installment of Simon Pridmore’s series on getting into scuba looks at the big issues around children learning to dive. Plus, of course, there’s the usual mix of news, views and reviews from around the world of adventure.
