Implementing the Belt and Road Initiative is a responsibility of Beijing’s enterprises. They play an irreplaceable role in displaying the capital’s advantages and promoting brands such as “intelligent manufacturing in Beijing” to the rest of the world.

The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, to be held in Beijing on May 14 and 15, will receive global attention. In autumn of 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, which aimed to complement advantages and promote coordinated development by strengthening international cooperation and integrating development strategies. steady progress has been made in Belt-and-road cooperation with Beijing's concrete deeds to implement the initiative.

For three years, Beijing has been dedicated to transforming itself into a foreign exchange platform for the initiative by strengthening international exchange. To achieve this goal, it has committed to four responsibilities: improve software and infrastructure to better serve international exchange and ensure better services for major international events; deepening friendly cooperation between the city and other major countries along the Belt and Road by utilising cooperation mechanisms; optimise internationalised service environment, attract headquarters of international organisations to settle in Beijing, and create high- end international exchange platform; strive to develop international think tanks.

Beijing has been committed to becoming a cultural exchange platform for the initiative by relying on its cultural resources. It has played a leading role as the nation's cultural centre, carried out cultural exchange with countries along the Belt and Road, and promoted gathering, integration, and innovative development of cultural outcomes in Beijing. It has developed cultural trade and strengthened cultural communication.

Beijing has targeted to become a scientific and technological platform for the initiative by implementing an innovation-driven development strategy. It has performed its role as the nation's scientific and technological innovation centre, aiming to build an innovation development strategic highland and offer technology, equipment and personnel support for countries involved in technology research and development and outcomes.

Striving to become the service support platform for the initiative, Beijing has carried out comprehensive pilots for enlarging the opening up of the sector, promoted development of service trade, and constructed basic framework linked with international rules. By encouraging competitive enterprises to go global, cultivate local transnational corporations with competitiveness, and offering services for conducting economic investment and cooperation with relevant countries and regions. It has drawn regional headquarters of transnational corporations and their centres for research and development, operations, purchasing and clearing to settle and attract overseas personnel to start a business.

Practising the Belt and Road Initiative is the responsibility of Beijing's enterprises. They play an irreplaceable role in displaying the advantages of Beijing's enterprises.
