It has played a leading role as the nation's cultural centre, carried out cultural exchange with countries along the Belt and Road, and promoted gathering, integration, and innovative development of cultural outcomes in Beijing. It has developed cultural trade and strengthened cultural communication.
Beijing has targeted to become a scientific and technological platform for the initiative by implementing an innovation-driven development strategy. It has performed its role as the nation's scientific and technological innovation centre, aiming to build an innovation development strategic highland and offer technology, equipment and personnel support for countries involved in technology research and development and outcomes.
Striving to become the service support platform for the initiative, Beijing has carried out comprehensive pilots for enlarging the opening up of the sector, promoted development of service trade, and constructed basic framework linked with international rules. By encouraging competitive enterprises to go global, cultivate local transnational corporations with competitiveness, and offering services for conducting economic investment and cooperation with relevant countries and regions. It has drawn regional headquarters of transnational corporations and their centres for research and development, operations, purchasing and clearing to settle and attract overseas personnel to start a business.
