FILM­ING OF BUYIETHNICGROUP’SDRUMS TO BE­GIN

Apress con­fer­ence was re­cently held at the Howard John­son Re­gal Court Ho­tel to an­nounce the start of film­ing for Buyi Eth­nic Group’s Drums, which is co-pro­duced by the Film and TV Com­mis­sion of the China Red Cul­ture Re­search In­sti­tute and the Guizhou Jiusen Agri­cul­tural Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy Com­pany Lim­ited. The con­fer­ence was at­tended by lead­ers from the China Red Cul­tural Re­search In­sti­tute and mem­bers of the film’s pro­duc­tion team.

At the con­fer­ence, Ms. Zhu Jialin, sec­re­tary-gen­eral of the Film and TV Com­mis­sion of the China Red Cul­ture Re­search In­sti­tute and gen­eral pro­ducer and screen­writer of the film, signed agree­ments with eight ac­tors in­clud­ing Zhang Wei, Wang Yim­ing, Wu Rong­wei, Yang Hong­wei, Geng Bop­ing, Wang Yuzhou, Lu Pan and Wang Kai­wen. The film is be­ing shot to cel­e­brate the 100th an­niver­sary of the Com­mu­nist Party of China, telling the story of de­mo­bilised ser­vice­men who as­sisted lo­cal Buyi peo­ple to al­le­vi­ate poverty in south­west Guizhou. It aims to help pro­mote “red cul­ture” in the new so­cial­ist coun­try­side.

With the help of ex­perts from the China Red Cul­ture Re­search In­sti­tute, the film’s pro­duc­tion team and cast will in­te­grate his­tor­i­cal leg­ends of the Buyi peo­ple, tales of the Red Army, sto­ries of mod­ern poverty-alle­vi­a­tion vol­un­teer groups in south­west Guizhou, folk­lore and cus­toms of eth­nic mi­nori­ties and young peo­ple’s opin­ions on mar­riage to pro­duce a “red cul­ture” themed film. It is un­der­stood that from 2018 to 2021, a to­tal of five “red cul­ture” films will be pro­duced, in­clud­ing the Buyi Eth­nic Group’s Drums.
