On Septem­ber 6, the Em­bassy of the Is­lamic Repub­lic of Pak­istan in Bei­jing held a cer­e­mony to com­mem­o­rate the Pak­istan De­fense Day. The hol­i­day hon­ours mar­tyrs of the 1965 war and every­one who has sac­ri­ficed them­selves for the de­fence of Pak­istan.

The Em­bassy of the Pak­istan held a re­cep­tion for the oc­ca­sion. Of­fi­cials from the Peo­ple’s Lib­er­a­tion Army (PLA), in­clud­ing Ma­jor Gen­eral Jiang Qian­ming; other Chi­nese Govern­ment of­fi­cials; diplo­mats from other coun­tries; rep­re­sen­ta­tives from me­dia agen­cies and Pak­ista­nis who live in China at­tended the event.

The re­spec­tive na­tional an­thems of Pak­istan and China were played, and a trib­ute to the sac­ri­fices that Pak­istan’s armed forces, law en­force­ment agen­cies and cit­i­zens have made was con­ducted. In his speech, Am­bas­sador of Pak­istan to China Ma­sood Khalid stated that Pak­istan De­fense Day hon­ours Pak­istan’s valiant armed forces and their pa­tri­o­tism, dis­ci­pline and com­mit­ment. He men­tioned that Pak­istan seeks a peace­ful and pros­per­ous neigh­bour­hood, which is one of the key prin­ci­ples of Pak­istan’s for­eign pol­icy, in his re­marks.

The am­bas­sador also stressed the sac­ri­fices of Pak­istan’s armed forces in fight­ing against ter­ror­ism and its re­solve to root it out. He stated that he ap­pre­ci­ates the Chi­nese Govern­ment and the PLA for their friendly co­op­er­a­tion.
