Snooker player stormed to a 10-3 vic­tory over Kyren Wil­son to win the Yushan World Open and claim his 13th rank­ing ti­tle. The win comes 12 years on from Ding’s maiden tour­na­ment vic­tory, which he se­cured as a teenager in 2005. He has now won 13 of the 18 rank­ing finals he has reached.

The vic­tory in Yushan, east China’s Jiangxi Prov­ince, net­ted Ding the tour­na­ment’s £150,000 ($201,285) top prize and saw him move to num­ber two in the world rank­ings. Ding has now also pro­gressed to sixth on the all-time list of num­ber of rank­ing ti­tles won.

Ding, born in 1987 in Yix­ing, east China’s Jiangsu Prov­ince, be­gan play­ing bil­liards at the age of 8. By win­ning the third place in the Asia Cham­pi­onships at the age of 13, Ding gained a rep­u­ta­tion as a prodigy of the sport.
