Com­mit­tee elected the Po­lit­i­cal Bureau and its Stand­ing Com­mit­tee on Oc­to­ber 25, Xi de­scribed the next five years as a pe­riod of “im­por­tant junc­tures and sign­posts.”

“In this new con­text, we must get a new look and, more im­por­tantly, make new ac­com­plish­ments,” said Xi, who was elected gen­eral sec­re­tary of the CPC Cen­tral Com­mit­tee for a sec­ond term.

He said the world’s sec­ond largest econ­omy would con­tinue to deepen re­form and open it­self wider to the world in the next five years.
