a pas­sion­ate 55-year-old moun­taineer and marathon run­ner, com­pleted 100 marathons in 100 con­sec­u­tive days across all 16 pre­fec­tures of south­west China’s Yun­nan Prov­ince on Au­gust 26.

The chal­lenge was cre­ated by Jin him­self, named Fairy­land 100 Marathons and in­volved only coun­try­side routes. Jin ran a to­tal of 4,219.5 km, tak­ing him past nine ma­jor lakes, six ma­jor river sys­tems and nu­mer­ous eth­nic mi­nor­ity com­mu­ni­ties along the way.

Over the course of the 100 days, Jin’s chal­lenge al­lowed more peo­ple to un­der­stand the sport and pro­moted the de­vel­op­ment of marathon run­ning in Yun­nan.

Jin has also com­pleted the Ex­plor­ers Grand Slam, an ad­ven­tur­ers chal­lenge to reach the North Pole, the South Pole and the high­est moun­tain peaks of each of the seven con­ti­nents. In ad­di­tion, at the be­gin­ning of the year, he par­tic­i­pated in the seven-day chal­lenge of seven marathons on seven con­ti­nents.
