The world's first Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit, or ART, system with virtual rail lines up to 3 kilometers long was launched on May 8 in Zhuzhou, Hunan. The China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group, a company headquartered in Wuhan, has undertaken the systemic integration of lines, stations, communication signals, and parking lots.

According to the plan, the Zhuzhou ART system will be gradually built into a loop, integrating with regular bus lines and BRT systems. The efficient integration of these transport services aims to make the transfer a convenient "seamless journey."

The shape, length, and capacity of the ART electric vehicles can be adjusted as needed in terms of passenger flow like those in the Optics Valley. It also adopts a fast-charged batterypowered system with no overhead lines. The max design speed is 70 kilometers per hour.
