Wuhan Open, ten­nis feast

The year 2014 marked the first time that Wuhan, the home­town of ten­nis su­per­star Li Na, hosted the Wuhan Open, a WTA Premier 5 tour­na­ment. Some of the world's top play­ers have gath­ered here at the Wuhan Op­tics Val­ley In­ter­na­tional Ten­nis Cen­ter for the event that has drawn ten­nis fans fro­maround the world.

The WTA Wuhan Open is to be held in Wuhan every Septem­ber un­til 2028. The Op­tics Val­ley In­ter­na­tional Ten­nis Cen­ter is a mas­sive ten­nis fa­cil­ity specif­i­cally con­structed to serve as the venue for the Wuhan Open.

Ten­nis su­per stars have come to Wuhan to com­pete in the event, in­clud­ing the Aus­tralian Open cham­pion, Caro­line Woz­ni­acki, who has par­tic­i­pated all four years in the Wuhan Open. Fa­mous grand slam women's sin­gles cham­pi­ons such as Maria Shara­pova, Pe­tra Kvi­tova, Vic­to­ria Azarenka, Ana Ivanovic, Venus Wil­liams, Saman­tha Sto­sur, Svet­lana Kuznetsova, and Flavia Pen­netta, have also taken part in the com­pe­ti­tion.
