Attracting earliest batch of foreign-capital companies

Changjiang Weekly - - AEDZ, WUHAN -

With the Yangtze River on its east and Xiaogan in the west, the AEDZ covers an area of 500 square kilometers, with the Han, Hanbei, Lunhe, and Fuhe rivers flowing through it.

As one of Wuhan's three state-level economic development zones, the AEDZ takes the lead in Central China, attracting the earliest batch of foreign-capital and Taiwanese-capital companies to invest. Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Danone are among the many advanced companies in the AEDZ to aggregate a Light Industry chain. As a district with three primary industries of food, electro-mechanics, and logistics, AEDZ is striving to upgrade from traditional manufacturing to the development of high-tech industry.

Six projects for the National Cybersecurity Talent and Innovation Base began construction on August 23, 2017. It is the first su ch base in the country featuring the model of "a cybersecurity institute plus an innovative industry valley."

Construction of the high generation TFT-LCD production line in Wuhan was inaugurated this April. This marks the birth of an industry chain with an output value of RMB 100 billion. Five strategic emergent industries including chip, display screen, cybersecurity and big data, new energy, and intelligent manufacturing are developing quickly in the AEDZ.

AEDZ is taking more actions for further development.

On May 14, the Wuhan Railway Port, located in the AEDZ, was approved for commercial activity by the Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Hubei Economy and Information Technology Commission, Department of Commerce of Hubei Province, Hubei Provincial Public Security Department, and Wuhan Customs. This is Hubei's first port for finished auto imports. In the future, imported cars will arrive in Wuhan in a shorter time via a China ( Wuhan) -Europe freight train.

Since the opening of the China ( Wuhan)-Europe freight route in 2012, the AEDZ has taken advantage of its geographic location to develop a comprehensive bonded zone, logistics, and business and trade. Through building a transportation artery, industrial parks, and ports, AEDZ's strength in developing international trade is growing to aggregate the industries. Now it is introducing advanced technologies, prioritizing the development of emergent industries and promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.
