World's top divers make a splash in Wuhan
The 21st FINA Diving World Cup held in Wuhan, following London, Rio and Shanghai, from June 4 to June 10 at Wuhan Sports Center Natatorium.
As one of the high-level diving sports events, the 11event competition has drawn 400 of the world's diving officials, judges, and athletes to Wuhan.
On June 3, three groups of 22 Chinese diving Olympic champions led by Guo Jingjing visited schools and swimming pools in Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang to provide on-the-spot guidance to enthusiastic young divers. Six of the Olympic champions taking part were from Hubei, and their diving careers began in Wuhan. They are Zhou Jihong, Fu Mingxia, Xiao Hailiang, Hu Jia, Wang Xin, and Liu Huixia.
Since his retirement, Xiao Hailiang has been living in Wuhan and has witnessed the changes in his hometown. He felt proud to have his junior teammates from the Chinese National Diving Team here in Wuhan.
As of June 6, the Chinese National Diving Team has already won gold medals in the mixed 10m synchronized platform, mixed all-round, men's synchronized 3m springboard, and women's 10m springboard in this world cup.
