RMB 26 bil­lion signed on first day of 11th China Bioin­dus­try Con­ven­tion

The 11th China Bioin­dus­try Con­ven­tion and the third Bio-expo Op­tics Val­ley of China in Wuhan were held at the China Op­tics Val­ley Con­ven­tion and Ex­hi­bi­tion Cen­ter from May 25 to 27.

China Bioin­dus­try Con­ven­tion is the largest, high­est level and most in­flu­en­tial an­nual event in the field of bioin­dus­try in China. Start­ing in 2018 the con­ven­tion will be held al­ter­nately in Wuhan and Guangzhou.

Govern­ment of­fi­cials, en­trepreneurs, and ex­perts from more than 40 coun­tries and re­gions were in­vited to the con­ven­tion. At the meet­ing a Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy Al­liance for Life was set up, and the sec­ond Asian Biotech­nol­ogy Sum­mit and the first Chi­naAfrica Co­op­er­a­tion Sem­i­nar were held. Com­mu­ni­ca­tion be­tween Wuhan and the coun­tries along the "Belt and Road" were strength­ened, and their co­op­er­a­tion in the field of bioin­dus­try pro­moted.

At the con­ven­tion, the Wuhan East Lake High-tech De­vel­op­ment Zone an­nounced it was go­ing to set up a Wuhan Op­tics Val­ley life and health­care in­dus­try fund worth a to­tal of RMB 5 bil­lion. It signed con­tracts to­tal­ing RMB 13 bil­lion on the spot with 16 life and health in­dus­try sub-funds in­clud­ing the Chi­naEquity Group and the Hu­man­well Health­care Group.

As many as 26 ma­jor projects in the life and health­care in­dus­try with a to­tal in­vest­ment of RMB 26 bil­lion came into be­ing at the con­ven­tion, in­clud­ing nine projects with an in­vest­ment of more than RMB 1 bil­lion each and four projects with an in­vest­ment of more than RMB 3 bil­lion each.
