RMB 26 billion signed on first day of 11th China Bioindustry Convention
The 11th China Bioindustry Convention and the third Bio-expo Optics Valley of China in Wuhan were held at the China Optics Valley Convention and Exhibition Center from May 25 to 27.
China Bioindustry Convention is the largest, highest level and most influential annual event in the field of bioindustry in China. Starting in 2018 the convention will be held alternately in Wuhan and Guangzhou.
Government officials, entrepreneurs, and experts from more than 40 countries and regions were invited to the convention. At the meeting a Science and Technology Alliance for Life was set up, and the second Asian Biotechnology Summit and the first ChinaAfrica Cooperation Seminar were held. Communication between Wuhan and the countries along the "Belt and Road" were strengthened, and their cooperation in the field of bioindustry promoted.
At the convention, the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone announced it was going to set up a Wuhan Optics Valley life and healthcare industry fund worth a total of RMB 5 billion. It signed contracts totaling RMB 13 billion on the spot with 16 life and health industry sub-funds including the ChinaEquity Group and the Humanwell Healthcare Group.
As many as 26 major projects in the life and healthcare industry with a total investment of RMB 26 billion came into being at the convention, including nine projects with an investment of more than RMB 1 billion each and four projects with an investment of more than RMB 3 billion each.
