To honor the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chen Bohua, a master of Han Opera, the Wuhan Han Opera Theater has created a new drama Nichang Changge ( Rainbow-colored Long Song) ) based on Chen's classic opera highlights Hundred Flowers Pavilion. The opera is under intense rehearsal now and will debut at Qintai Grand Theater on June 29.

The drama retells the love story between Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang dynasty and Yang Yuhuan, his favorite imperial concubine. It ponders on the cause of An-Shi Rebellion and the hidden crisis in the Tang dynasty. Written by playwright Hu Yingming and directed by the famous director Chen Xinyi, the opera version not only recounts their legendary love story, but also shows the superb performance of the female leading roles in Han Opera.
