Changjiang Weekly - - CULTURE - By Zhou Manzhen

A textbook series, "Playing Football," published by Hubei Education Press (HEP) will come out in English, Malay, and Thai, and be promoted in middle and primary schools of these Southeast Asian countries, according to news released by HEP on August 23.

"Playing Football," was first published in April of 2017. The series' purpose is football education in middle and primary schools. Apart from detailed explanations on movements and positioning, the books include 3D pictures to demonstrate football skills. By scanning the QR codes in the book series with a smart phone, readers can watch demonstration videos by national-level coaches.

According to Zhang Yuanyuan, director of the copyright and international cooperation department of HEP, this international cooperation on copyright dated back to HEP's visit to Kualiti Books Sdn. Bhd in Malaysia in 2016, with the latter expressing hopes to develop sports textbooks on the basis of high-quality Chinese resources.

Upon the publication of "Playing Football" in 2017, HEP sent some sample books to Kualiti Books Sdn. Bhd, who showed great interest in them. Kualiti Books also introduced the series to other publishers in this region. Eventually, HEP signed copyright output agreements with its counterparts in Malaysia and Thailand.
