The baggage content of the incoming freshmen is also very different. Tmall's school season data shows that projectors, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicle), and balance bikes occupied the highest proportion of orders by college freshmen.

The teaching buildings and dormitories in universities are often spread out across campus, causing the freshmen to resort to the use of balance bikes. Balance bikes cost about RMB 2,000 and are the best seller on Tmall during the school-opening season. "The balance bike is easy to ride and coollooking," a freshman said.

The freshmen also found the best way to watch popular TV series or movies at school. They pushed the portable projector up the Tmall popularity list, with tens of thousands of units sold. A mobile phone-sized projector, connected to WiFi, can project a 100-inch large screen, transforming any dorm room into a small "cinema."
