Red Dot de­signs to land in Wuhan

On Septem­ber 3, the Wuhan In­vest­ment Pro­mo­tion Bureau an­nounced that an ex­hi­bi­tion of in­dus­trial prod­uct de­signs from Red Dot will take place in Wuhan this Novem­ber.

The Red Dot De­sign Award, con­sid­ered the Os­car of the de­sign in­dus­try, is one of the most in­ter­na­tion­ally es­tab­lished de­sign prizes and is awarded by De­sign Zen­trum Nor­drhein West­falen in Ger­many.

Red Dot is sched­uled to take part in the 2nd China In­dus­trial De­sign Ex­hi­bi­tion due to open in Wuhan on Novem­ber 24. It will hold a fair on in­dus­trial de­signs over a pe­riod of five months and is ex­pected to be its largest time-scale dis­play in China. Fo­cus­ing on the his­tory of in­dus­trial de­vel­op­ment, the fair will present over 200 prod­uct de­signs from more than 40 coun­tries, rang­ing from the 19th cen­tury wooden bi­cy­cle de­sign to to­day's iphone de­signs. Over 90% of the ex­hibits, cov­er­ing house­hold and sports items, sta­tionery, dig­i­tal prod­ucts and ve­hi­cles, will be de­signs granted with "Best of the Best," the top prize in the Red Dot awards.

Ac­cord­ing to Wuhan In­vest­ment Pro­mo­tion Bureau, Red Dot will set up a de­sign school in Wuhan in the next three to five years and in­tends to open a lo­cal Red Dot mu­seum.
