The six-sec­tion dance drama "Con­fu­cius" tells of the life story of the leg­endary scholar's jour­ney through the 14 states of the Zhou dy­nasty and his quest to in­still codes of ethics, honor, and benev­o­lence among the em­pire's rulers. It is directed by Kong Dexin, a 77th-gen­er­a­tion di­rect de­scen­dent of Con­fu­cius, and per­formed by the China Na­tional Opera and Dance Drama The­ater. The play fea­tures a cast of over 60 per­form­ers, and in­cludes tra­di­tional Chi­nese mu­sic, con­tem­po­rary chore­og­ra­phy and op­u­lent cos­tumes.
