About 2,000 ice and snow sculp­tures will be on dis­play dur­ing the Harbin Ice and Snow Fes­ti­val, which opened on Thurs­day. The fes­ti­val is di­vided into eight scenic zones, fea­tur­ing dif­fer­ent styles of sculp­ture, mak­ing the event the big­gest of its kind. An in­ter­na­tional ice-carv­ing con­test will take place on Jan 6, and about 100 artists from dozens of coun­tries and re­gions will dis­play their skills.
