Man stole, sold TCM ingredients, police say

China Daily (Canada) - - CHINA -

A native of Nanchong, Li Ming, was arrested for damaging six locks at a drugstore in Luzhou in early December to steal precious traditional Chinese medicine ingredients, including Chinese caterpillar fungi and the birds’ nests. The shop owner claimed that she suffered a loss of nearly 1 million yuan ($165,000). Police said Li sold some of the stolen fungi cheaply — 700 grams of fungi for only 70,000 yuan, a fraction of its real value on the market.
