Lack of us­ing child seats blamed for deaths

Each year, more than 185,000 chil­dren un­der the age of 14 die in car ac­ci­dents in China, govern­ment records show. Zhao Xiny­ong, deputy di­rec­tor of the Road Safety Re­search Cen­ter at the Min­istry of Pub­lic Se­cu­rity, said that the in­fre­quent use of child seats is a ma­jor rea­son for the deaths. Records show that par­ents use the seats less than 1 per­cent of the time.
