Most aban­doned ru­ral women bigamy vic­tims

Most of the women in the coun­try­side who are aban­doned by their mi­grant worker hus­bands are the vic­tims of bigamy, ac­cord­ing to a court in Dong­guan. The South­ern Me­trop­o­lis Daily re­ported on Thurs­day that the court heard 16 cases of bigamy from 2009 to 2013 and nearly ev­ery case in­volved hus­bands in ru­ral ar­eas leav­ing their wives for other women. The wives, the court said, are usu­ally the last to know.
