The amount China has in­vested in ed­u­ca­tional fa­cil­i­ties in ru­ral ar­eas since 2010, ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion on Thurs­day. The money, equiv­a­lent to $5.8 bil­lion, has been used to pur­chase books as well as im­prove teach­ing labs and multimedia teach­ing fa­cil­i­ties for 165,200 pri­mary and sec­ondary schools. The min­istry said it has been pro­mot­ing ed­u­ca­tion fair­ness by nar­row­ing the gap be­tween ru­ral and ur­ban ed­u­ca­tion re­sources.
