Of­fi­cial un­der probe seen as ‘fru­gal’ man

An en­ergy of­fi­cial who is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated by prose­cu­tors on al­le­ga­tions that he ac­cepted bribes ap­par­ently led a fru­gal life, a news re­port said. Wei Pengyuan, a deputy di­rec­tor at the Na­tional En­ergy Ad­min­is­tra­tion, was seen as a fru­gal per­son by his col­leagues, the Bei­jing Times re­ported on Thurs­day. The re­port said he rode a bike to work and never wore lux­u­ri­ous clothes, al­though al­most 100 mil­lion yuan ($16 mil­lion) in cash was dis­cov­ered at his home.
