Lenovo’s annual earnings jump nearly 30 percent
Lenovo Group Ltd, the world’s biggest personal computer maker, reported record annual earnings, helped by strong sales of personal computers in Europe and smartphone in China.
The company’s annual earnings hit $817 million, a jump of nearly 30 percent year-on-year, according to Lenovo’s financial report. As of the fiscal year that ended March 31, Lenovo had shipped 55 million PCs, 50 million smartphones and 9.2 million tablets.
Within two years, the company is aiming to overtake Apple Inc in shipments of desktops, laptops and tablet computers, CEO Yang Yuanqing said. Lenovo also pledged to build a stronger service arm, especially in the cloud sector, during the next fiscal year.
