Shipping firm among bidders for Greek port
China Ocean Shipping (Group) Co, the world’s second-largest shipping company, has been shortlisted as a potential buyer to acquire a majority stake in Piraeus Port Authority SA, the largest port in Greece and among the top 10 container ports in Europe
The state-owned company will compete with four other suitors, Reuters reported, citing sources from the Greek privatization agency Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund. Binding offers for the port are expected to be submitted by the bidders by the end of the year.
COSCO officials declined to comment when contacted by China Daily. (Photo 1)
