Vil­lager sen­tenced for ex­plo­sives of­fense

A vil­lager in Ningqiang county was sen­tenced to three years’ im­pris­on­ment, sus­pended for three years, for il­le­gally stor­ing 15 kg of ex­plo­sives at home, Huashang Daily re­ported on Thurs­day. The 51-year-old man, sur­named Li, used to be a vil­lage head and bought 510 kg of ex­plo­sives, 1,000 det­o­na­tors and 500 me­ters of fuse wire with of­fi­cial per­mis­sion for road con­struc­tion in May 2005. He il­le­gally stored some of the un­used ex­plo­sives when the work was com­pleted.
