Vil­lage Party chief is cleared of cor­rup­tion

A vil­lage Party chief ac­cused of bribery and cor­rup­tion has been cleared fol­low­ing a pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tion by the gov­ern­ment of Beishi­cao county. Nine vil­lagers in Shunyi district said Zhang Jianwu had set up fac­to­ries on il­le­gally ob­tained land and been in­volved in il­le­gal ex­plo­ration for re­sources since tak­ing up the po­si­tion at Liang­shan vil­lage 10 years ago. Zhang said the claims may have been lodged by vil­lagers who had been in­volved in fi­nan­cial dis­putes with him, Bei­jing Times re­ported on Thurs­day.
