Former university president stands trial
Zhou Wenbin, former president of Nanchang University, was accused in court on Tuesday of having intimate relationships with six women. Zhou is being tried in the Nanchang Intermediate People’s Court on charges of bribery and embezzlement of public funds. One of the six women, surnamed Shen, said she received 8.5 million yuan (1.4 million) from Zhou to invest in real estate. Zhou had served as president of the university since 2002 and was dismissed from his post in June. The bribes he accepted totaled more than 22 million yuan, according to the court.
