Bil­lion­aire’s daugh­ter gets 7 years in prison

Hou Junxia, the daugh­ter of a for­mer rail­way bil­lion­aire, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for il­le­gal business op­er­a­tions, Beijing Times re­ported on Wed­nes­day. Her per­sonal prop­erty worth 80 mil­lion yuan ($13 mil­lion) has been con­fis­cated. Hou is one of the chil­dren of Ding Shu­miao, a busi­ness­woman who served as a bro­ker for for­mer rail­way min­is­ter Liu Zhi­jun in trad­ing power for money. Liu had ac­cepted bribes to­tal­ing 49 mil­lion yuan from 2004 to 2011, mostly from Ding, and was sentenced to death with two years’ re­prieve.
