Employee challenges firing over chat history

China Daily (Canada) - - CHINA -

A female employee in a real estate firm was fired after her chat history on a public computer was seen and photographed by her manager, and the picture was sent to the head office, Shanghai Morning Post reported on Wednesday. The woman believed that some insulting words about her manager in her chat history led to the dismissal. Her manager argued that the true reasons were her lack of responsibility and her difficult personality. The manager received a fine of 20 yuan ($3) for violating the employee’s privacy. A lawyer said the woman’s behavior was not serious enough for dismissal.
